Latest Updates

Our Easter programme 2024 is available and places are booking fast. This years due to parental request we have the dates for May half term and Summer 2024. We have a fantastic mix of skilled, experienced and qualified staff members now on our team and have just been asked to write an article for the Lancashire Childcare Spotlight Magazine (Summer 2024 addition). Our article looks at how Marie likes to get the best out of her team by using their special interests, skills and hobbies to inspire children's play. For example, Annie is talented in musical theatre so we have been providing sing-along sessions & Megan, has special skills in dancing and acting so has been providing workshops and games-themed activities etc. When this is available we will post a link out so all our parents can have a read!

HAF funding- We continue to have funding available again this Easter for eligible children who are in year reception class up to year 7. The funding is primarily for those who access benefit-related free school meals , not only because they are in KS1 but due to low income and there are a proportion of places for SEND, vulnerable and or looked after children. Please contact Marie Smith via if you think you may be eligible for free places.

Our new V2 system ensures all parents can easily view our spaces and book and pay for childcare when they need it using any device. This gives parents control of bookings and easily making sure the information we need is updated. It also means that we will be able to communicate with our families more efficiently, have electronic sign in and out for all children staff & club visitors and easily be able to view registers that flag up allergies, specific needs and daily notes from parents. Marie had spent many months researching the different systems available and we are confident that we have the best for our setting needs.

Cockerham Kids Club is still providing the collection service to Scotforth after school club via MPV bus. We are trading under the same name 'Scotforth After School Club' and provide breakfast and after school club term-time only. Holiday provision will be provided as usual at Scotforth St Paul's School. After months of trying to kick start Cockerham Kids' Club demand was so low that we made the decision to provide a collection service via MPV/Bus to take children to our biggest club in Scotforth School. The children who have been joining us have been settling in well and enjoying making new friends and having more choice of after school activities. We are hoping with the news of the spring budget childcare funding, that we will be able to re-evaluate whether it would be worthwhile applying for funding should it become available to help kick-start the after-school club onsite. It may be that this option becomes more viable as we believe onsite wraparound care is what the parents and children of Cockerham school would like.

Please can all parents complete the wraparound childcare survey. We will keep sending out the link as this will let the county council team know what parent childcare needs are.
