Look out for 'Sonny Bunny' who will be displayed in a shop window in Lancaster town during the Easter holidays. The children from both Scotforth and Cockerham have enjoyed decorating the giant bunny as part of the city councils Easter bunny trail which will be held during the Easter holidays from 1st to 18th April. Children can vote for their favorite bunny and post their entries for a chance to win an Easter hamper. There are 8 bunnies and the group who has decorated the favorite, will win £100 of vouchers for their club. The children are really looking forward to spotting their artwork and are excited for the chance of winning the vouchers!
From the 2nd September we opened our new wraparound childcare club in Cockerham. Cockerham Kids Club will be trading under the same name 'Scotforth After School Club' and will be providing a breakfast and after school club term-time only. Holiday provision will be provided as usual at Scotforth St Paul's School. After months of trying to kick start Cockerham Kids' Club demand was so low that from February we made the decision to provide a collection service via MPV/Bus to take children to our biggest club in Scotforth School. The children who have been joining us have been settling in well and enjoying making new friends and having more choice of after school activities.
Our playschemes have recovered well after the pandemic restrictions, as thankfully we are now able to invite children from all local schools. Places can be booked by registering as a parent on our online booking system IPAL and you can access this through the link on our website. Click register and book now from our front page and please watch the short videos for help if needed. From your parent profile you can book and pay for childcare via voucher, bank transfer or simply using a debit or credit card.
It has been so nice to get back some our pre-pandemic routines. Children are not required to be cared for in bubbles which allows us to provide more joined up games and activities and means that the different collection points are now abolished. We have again been able to provide care from the KS1 classrooms at Scotforth and is especially great that we can join as one small group for children at our new club in Cockerham without asking children to stick to playing in certain areas. We are however still carrying out enhance cleaning and hygiene routines.
All new families need to register through our online booking system to access our services which does have an app which can be used through any mobile device. If anyone is experiencing any difficulties Marie is always available to contact for support. Before lockdown so much had happened, we were Ofsted inspected on 6th January achieving the best grade possible, albeit not Outstanding as this grade does no longer exists for wraparound childcare and instead we are 'Met with no recommendations' (which is Outstanding really), we are however allowed to keep out Outstanding logo which is pleasing as we feel we really deserve to get the recognition for our hard work and commitment.
Our new system ensures all parents can easily view our spaces and book and pay for childcare when they need it using any device. This gives parents control of bookings and easily making sure the information we need is updated. It also means that we will be able to communicate with our families more efficiently, have electronic sign in and out for all children staff & club visitors and easily be able to view registers which flag up allergies, specific needs and daily notes from parents. Marie had spent many months researching the different systems available and we are confident that we have the best for our setting needs.
